“My son, your sins are forgiven” – the unexpected words of Jesus said to a man who was brought to be healed of his paralysis. Jesus does not tell him to do something, say a prayer, or walk the aisle. He simply says, “My son, your sins are forgiven.” How badly do we need to hear these words. Telling us we need to be forgiven is true, but incomplete. Actually hearing the words “Your sins are forgiven” frees us to live.

Nineteen years ago we were stunned.

Today we are weary.

One day we will be surprised by resurrection.

We will be restored in the new creation.
